This term in HaSS, students have been busy exploring the world around them through our unit on Place and Liveability. We investigated what makes a city “liveable” or “unliveable,” looking closely at factors such as transport, housing, access to services, safety, and the natural environment. Students also examined patterns of population distribution and density, as well as the reasons people choose to move or migrate between places.

To bring all of this learning together, students completed a summative assessment task where they compared the features of a liveable city with those of a less liveable one. This gave them the opportunity to apply their knowledge and practise their analytical and critical thinking skills.

We have now begun our next unit in Business and Economics. In this unit, students will explore the concept of economic scarcity, investigate the rights and responsibilities of individuals and businesses, and develop entrepreneurial thinking. Through discussions and activities, students will begin to understand how businesses operate, the importance of decision-making, and the skills needed to bring innovative ideas to life.

It has been an engaging and thought-provoking term so far, and we look forward to seeing how students apply their creativity and problem-solving skills in the weeks ahead.
